To be conquered by self is, of all things, the most shameful and vile. p. 173 [Napoleon Hill](https://www.leafyquotes.com/napoleon-hill.md) · [Think And Grow Rich](https://www.leafyquotes.com/napoleon-hill/think-and-grow-rich.md) — [Quote page](https://www.leafyquotes.com/napoleon-hill/think-and-grow-rich/building-alibis-is-a-deeply.md) Topics: [self-control](https://www.leafyquotes.com/topics/self-control.md), [excuses](https://www.leafyquotes.com/topics/excuses.md) > Building alibis with which to explain away failure is a national pastime. The habit is as old as the human race, and is fatal to success! Why do people cling to their pet alibis? The answer is obvious. They defend their alibis because THEY CREATE them!
